Freshly back home from Canada, it’s a pleasure to give you some news on the two rounds that took place overseas.
We first stopped in Crested Butte in Colorado, a beautiful place perfect for Enduro riding. I was excited to enter my second round of the Enduro World Series after Samoëns last July. Unfortunately, a serious accident that occurred on the second day of racing forced the organisers to cancel the race. We learned later that an American pilot died after a violent crash. A terrible news and hard time both for the organisers and all the riders. We all know that risk of injury is part of the sport but this sad news has shaken us all.
Life must go on and the week after we all moved to Whistler for the next race. This stop is one of my favorite on the calendar of the Enduro World Series. The Mecca of mountain biking always reserve its share of sensations and the unique atmosphere that prevails during the Crankworx is a must! The race was easier than last year from a physical point of view, with less pedaling between stages. During the first stage, I was facing some difficulties on the ultra slippery trail and was not necessarily feeling in a good day. Over the specials, I found back good riding sensations and was able to come back in the standings to finish on the 26th place overall. I am pleased with this performance and highly motivated for the rest of the season. We have two rounds of EWS left, one in Spain in late September and the last one in Finale Ligure, Italy in early October.
